ABOUT ME

Let’s Get Acquainted with Navneet Kampani

If I say I am a learner. Cliched na!

Cause everyone is a learner, so what is different about Navneet Kampani? As Heraclitus said, “The only constant in life is change”. For me, the only constant in life is learning. I actually learn to learn.

Growing up in a small middle class family with supportive parents brought me on to the stage of life, while making me recite poems in front of friends and neighbors. Grew up to singing songs in front of same audience to doing small acts again in front of same audience. I grew & evolved but the audience remained the same.

Starting with riding a cycle by watching my elder brother do so and riding scooter observing my father while sitting behind as a pillion rider. Always loved seeing my mom cooking and more so I developed a streak of learning by observing people around me.  Then I got married and had kids and now my wife and my two beautiful daughters are part of my learning journey. All my sweet and bitter memories are part of my experiences to make me a ProPer person that I am manifesting to be today.

My growing up has been very adventurous and colorful. Few things that I love doing:

  • Teaching/Mentoring/Coaching
  • Cooking Indian Delicacies for family & friends
  • Being an entertainer of all our social gatherings
  • Story-telling

Obviously, I had to study for my degrees, and they did not come by observation. I had to study to become an Engineer(which I never wanted to be), learnt theater & acting (life has been a stage for me and continue to act), did my MBA in Finance (not understanding the logic of “debit what comes in and credit what goes out”) and last but not the least very recently ended up doing my Masters in Law. So here you go, my journey to be a professional has been long and fruitful with double masters.

I had a wonderful run as a professional by becoming Vice President at the age of 25, to being the Regional Head of a Company at the age of 26. My dream came true when I joined one of the most prestigious International Banks in India. Became the youngest Teacher in one of the prestigious Management Institutes in Delhi starting my journey as a Teacher/Professor started. I taught many batches of full-time and part-time MBA students in many colleges and I am still cherishing the friendship of many of my students till date. Lucky me.

My international journey started with one of the world’s largest bank in 2005, when I moved to Bahrain and my CART-WHEEL was perfectly balanced with oiled axle & shaft and I had a great run loving my LIFE, not knowing that slowly and steadily I started differentiating between Pro & Per. I could manage the controllable but the uncontrollable is where I always missed a Guru/Mentor/Guide, who could guide me in my journey to manage the uncontrollable through what was in my control. But actually I was drifting away from my ProPer LIFE. It is only when your CART-WHEEL hits the bump and slows you down that you realize that something was wrong. The shaft was being dragged by one wheel, which started to wear & tear. Axle was bending due to drag on one wheel(conflict of mindset & heart-set). The rubber of one of the wheel was completely worn and other one was by its rim. The spokes were loose and were pooping out from their positions. Life was completely off balance.

What did you do? Why did you do? How did it happen? What happened? Who did it? Did we ignore the noises? Why did it happen to me? I trusted? Why? Should Have thought? They all conspired? They were in-secured? Why did you not warn me? My fault, his fault, there fault..So many Question!!!

This blog came out of all the above questions and from my experiences which taught me that there is one LIFE and that is it. It is you. It is all about you. Your work is your life. You have to love what you do or stop doing. That passion for life is in whatever you do. There is no way you can divide your life between Pro & Per. It has to be ProPer.

So, here you go good people, through this blog I am here to share my experiences and in the bargain unlearn and learn new things. This blog is my journey to contribute to the society at large.

As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community that I intend to build. We will not only learn from each other but contribute to the well being of our society at large.Let us all join hands with me to make a ProPer life.

Thank you so much for being part of this community.

My inspiration came from

Your ProPer Guide

You must be wondering why the middle letter “p” in the word “proper” is capital.

“TYPO” error? Deliberate? Why?
Okay, let me answer this for you. Lets split the word proper into two, “Pro” and “Per”. Going forward for simplicity sake we will call it “Pro & Per”. Does it give you any clue? No?

Never mind, I am sure you all must have seen a CART-WHEEL, but did you ever think how deeply it is related to our lives. I mean “Pro & Per”. Yes “Pro & Per”.

In 2017, after leaving my stressful job with a multinational bank, I visited a pristine place in Cambodia, called Hariharlaya for week-long retreat and clicked a picture (on the right). It took me good 3 years to realize the beauty of this picture. This picture inspired me to start my own blog called “Your ProPer guide”.

I am sure you are still wondering what is Pro and Per. Patience..

To understand this theory let us first analyse the key elements of the CART-WHEEL in the picture. It has 2 Wheels, 1 Axel bar connecting the wheels, a Frame which gets extended for a human being or an animal to pull the cart. Let us not go into the mechanics but just concentrate on the above elements. Correlating these elements to the two most critical elements of our life. Firstly, the two wheels of life – PRO-fessional and PER-sonal, the Axel to these two wheels is our Brain, which tries to create the balance between our professional & personal lives. We as an Individual are trying to pull and push this CART-WHEEL of our life to reach our goal. Which one??

I leave the rest to your imagination, as to what will happen if the two wheels of our cart, i.e professional & personal are imbalanced. Life will be messy. Ha Ha Ha…

With this thought, I bring experiences from both my professional and personal life to enrich your life. This world is full of many enlightened souls, who are my inspiration as well and YourProPerGuide is my humble beginning in this direction.

There will be much to read, see and experience here. So, take your time, read my stories. Then make sure to drop me a line.
I look forward to hearing from you.
